Grade 9:  Today, we talked about the upcoming oral presentations.  The students have already completed a research essay, and now it is time to use that same information in an oral presentation.  Using a blank storyboard, students are to plan out their Powerpoint presentations for homwork, so they will be ready to put them together tomorrow in the computer lab.

 

Journalism:  Today, we went over some note-taking  techniques.  students are to complete the article, ” Reading in a Digital World,” and take notes on the article.

Grade 9

Today, we re-read Shylock’s speech from Act 3, scene, beginning around line 49.  This is the speech where he outlines all of the ways that Antonio has wronged him in the past.  The following is the assignment students received in class.  If you need to access the text, just google “Merchant of Venice full text,”  and you can find it to re-read.

Here is the assignment:

Do you think Shylock has justified getting revenge on Antonio?
Using the proof you have compiled on the sticky notes (From Act3, scene 1 line 49 on), write a paragraph that gives your opinion on the above question. 
Make sure you have a topic sentence that clearly gives your opinion (2 marks).
Choose the four pieces of proof that best support your opinion (8 marks).
Arrange these pieces of proof in the most logical way to convince the reader (2 marks)
Make sure you have an effective conclusion sentence.
